December 21st is not only the longest night of the year, but is also the 30th annual Homeless Persons Memorial Day. A memorial service was held for those individuals experiencing homelessness in Erie County who had died during the past year. Erie Mayor, Joseph Schember, spoke at the service as well as several other community members who work toward stopping homelessness in Erie. On this, the longest night of the year, please remember those who do not have a place to rest their heads.
