Safe Haven Storage Project: Dignity Through Organization

At St. Patrick’s Haven, we believe dignity starts with the basics, like having a safe place to rest and a secure place to store your belongings. For the men we serve, many of whom arrive with everything they own in a backpack or duffel bag, knowing their few personal items are safe can make all the difference.

We’re proud to share the launch of the Safe Haven Storage Project, a mission-driven initiative to refurbish our guest storage area and install new indoor shelving for essential health and hygiene supplies.

This important work is made possible through funding provided by a grant from the Catholic Social Ministry Endowment at the Catholic Foundation of Northwest Pennsylvania. Their generosity allows us to address longstanding challenges in our current system: overcrowded storage, limited organization, and lack of secure access during intake.

The project includes:

• Repairs and updates to the guest storage shed
• Installation of a Dutch door to improve secure check-in/out of belongings
• Indoor storage shelves for critical hygiene supplies like socks, soap, and first-aid kits

These improvements are about more than just functionality; they’re about dignity, safety, and hospitality. We are incredibly grateful for the opportunity to better serve our guests and continue building a shelter where everyone feels seen, safe, and respected.
